MARLON JOHNSON AWARD OF PLAYER EXCELLENCE 2024

Britta Hagen

“Good evening players, parents and staff. My name is Teagan Timperley and I played my final year here, last year, after 8 years of being at the club. I just finished my first year playing volleyball at the University of North Dakota with a major in Commercial Aviation and a minor in Spanish. I am also last year’s winner of the Marlon Johnson award. I was thrilled to be picked last year for this award and it really meant so much to me. Northern Lights holds a very special place in my heart, forever. Marlon Johnson was an incredible man, friend and coach. I remember seeing him when I was just starting my first tryout here at lights and he had the biggest smile on his face. He was such a welcoming person and had the kindest heart. Marlon was always in the gym working with his team to make them the best they could be. This award recognizes a player who has made a positive impact on not only her teammates but her coaches as well. Someone who puts her teams needs before her own and someone who continuously works hard day in and day out. I am very honored to present this years award to a one of a kind person, great all around player and someone who truly deserves this award. This girl never fails to make a room smile and she has always had such a positive attitude while in the gym. When I think of a great teammate, I think of having this person by my side on the court. She has helped out so much throughout her years here at lights. Not only her team and teammates but also the endless youth camps. This person has played every position because of how versatile and flexible she is.

Even though she only played here for 3 years, this player has left such a great impact on this club. She has made such an impact that people know her for singing the National Anthem at not just one but multiple tournaments. She is very deserving of the Marlon Johnson award and I couldn’t be happier to present this award to her. This year’s Marlon Johnson award winner goes to the positive ray of sunshine who will be attending St. Olaf College this fall. Please join me in congratulating Britta Hagen for receiving this incredible award and all of her future endeavors.”

Thank you,

Teagan Timperley
